Brothers

Koen loves his little brother! This morning he told me "mom, I need a bottle, Kai is crying". He thinks anytime Kai cries he needs his bottle and he is willing to feed him. Occasionally I have him hold his bottle in his mouth while I go to the bathroom or change his diaper. Koen is a great brother! He also loves to sit on the arm of the rocking chair while I rock Kai and watch him. He always needs to know where the baby is and if he can't see him he asks. I can't believe he is a big brother! It seems like he was born yesterday and I was rocking him and feeding him. Now he puts himself to sleep, uses the toilet, and feeds himself. He is a big boy and they grow so fast. I didn't believe this until I had my own kids. Time really does fly. Oh and Koen gets to play T-Ball this year! I hope he likes it.

Growing

Kai is sure growing! I took him to the doctor today and he weighs 10 pounds 4 ounces now! He is just one day over 5 weeks. He sure is loved at our house! The poor guy seems to have the same problem with milk and formula that Koen had when he was tiny. We have switched him to the really expensive and hypoallergenic formula just like his older brother. Koen was much worse, though. The doctor said she isn't sure he has a milk allergy, but obviously he can't handle regular or lactose free formulas. Since we have switched him he is doing much better. He lays on the floor and kicks for long periods of time and loves his swing. He also makes it known when its time for a bath because I give him one at the same time every night. Koen did this too! I found that Koen slept better if I gave him a bath right before bed and until he was 2 he would get so fussy if he didn't get it on time.

Well, Kai is officially three weeks old yesterday. He is getting big so fast! He weighed 8 pounds 11 ounces last Friday. Unfortunately he had to start daycare yesterday. I was a little shocked and surprised to see that all the other babies look like they are at least 10 months old. At least they played like it as well as looked like it. That concerns me a little. Kids at that age always have runny noses and put things in their mouth. I really hope my newborn doesn't get sick from them. I was sad for him too since he will be the only one. Maybe someone else will have their baby there soon. At least he only has to go until the end of April and then he is all mine all summer with his brother. Koen has been pushing buttons since Grandma left and doing everything he possibly can for more attention. It always happens when I am trying to feed Kai. Koen thinks he needs something NOW as he tells me. I hope this phase goes by quickly! He still LOVES his little brother though. In the midst of driving me crazy he does all kinds of cute things though. Like the other day I was helping him in the bathroom and he was all, "mom, I wove your hair". He is so cute sometimes.
