Havyn's Tonsils

Remember this?

Well I sure do, and that is precisely why knowing that Havyn had giant tonsils worried me. We put off getting them out, waiting for her to get older and stronger, but the surgery was needed sooner than I ever wanted it to be. The Dr. asked me if I was ready, and I said I wouldn't be ready if she was 15. Before surgery she was super happy, and had no idea what was coming.

 She has been through so much in her short little life, but she is strong as ever! She continues to amaze me. I had all these ideas of how she would be after they got her tonsils out and she woke up, and she has been such a trooper! She struggled with the anesthesia and waking up. She was a MAD little girl, and confused beyond belief, but calmed down soon after they let us see her and she got mommy.

Later she was wanting to run around, and being her normal full of attitude self. She even ate french fries and a kit kat. I had bought her all kinds of soft cold foods for when she came home and so far she could care less. She hasn't even complained about her throat. She was supposed to stay a night in the hospital because of her age, but shocked her Dr. with how much she had drank  behavior that he sent her home later that night. We were so ready because she had been crying all afternoon about wanting to go home, and the only thing we could do to make her stop was pull her around in a wagon. We sure made the rounds in the peds unit!

She got plenty of cuddle time being alone with mom and dad, and I think she enjoyed every bit of it!

A Trip To Grandma's

Last Tuesday we started on a trip to Grandma Snyder's. We had been anxiously awaiting this trip all summer. My little brother and his wife were getting ready to have their first baby, and the second cousin for my kids on my side of the family. We decided to go when we did because she was being induced Wed. morning. Their baby is adorable, and Koen and Kai just LOVED him. Koen kept pointing out how small everything was, and Kai went from calling him a her to an it to finally that baby, but never his name, Bryken. I wasn't able to go when my sister had her little girl, so it was nice to be there this time.

Heather happened to be there too, so there was lots of cousin fun. Most of the time Kael and Pyper (since they are 3 monhs apart) were either rivals or buddies. I got one picture of them when they were buddies.

One of my very favorite parts of the trip was visiting my grandparents. All the memories of my childhood at their house come back every time I see my children there. Great Grandma even had ice cream bars in the freezer, which is something thart I remember from my childhood. The kids thought it was absolutely great running free in their big backyard, and rolling around in the blue barrels Great Grandpa has in the backyard. I am just so blessed to have my grandparents alive to make memories with my children, and I hope that one day they can look back and remember who their great grandparents were. They are two of the most amazing people I have ever known!

Once all that fun was had the kids found their Halloween costumes they had left at grandma's and Havyn ended up being from Hollywood, and Kai was a cowboy. They wore the costumes almost all the way home. Kai even fell asleep with his bandana still around his neck!

4th of July 2012

We took the kids to the parade in Middleton this year. They didn't enjoy the wait, but LOVED the parade! Especially Kael. He was all tears until the first tractor appeared. Koen didn't appreciate the part at the end where they have the "wet" section and the fire trucks come through with their hoses going, and you get wet. Tyrell and I thought it was super fun, and we got wet too! It was really hard to avoid, but something different and fun! After the parade we came home for a quick nap, and then went to a bbq and fireworks we got invited to. The kids, especially Koen, really enjoyed making some new friends, and playing with someone other than each other. Koen played in the pool all day and came home looking like a lobster, but probably will do it again! Kael and Havyn weren't so kean on the loud noises of the fireworks and therefore didn't sleep most of the night, but someday they will grow up, and I am sure I will miss these days!

A Pool Story

So, as luck would have it, Koen (being as he is a curious boy) decided with a friend that he wanted to see what would happen if he threw some rocks over a fence into our neighbors giant pool. Well, what happened cost us a pretty penny,and a seriously sad night! The pool got a hole in it, and we got to purchase the neighbor a new one.  I just wish I understood why boys are so curious! I guess girl can be too, but boys just seem to do the bigger things that cause much bigger problems. I called my mom to see if I had ever done something that cost that much money, and she was like no, but your bother did. I honestly think it is a boy thing, maybe Havyn will prove me wrong someday.

So the next day Tyrell and I decide that we had spent enough money, and that the pool Koen had torn just needed a patch (the neighbor did NOT want a patch). We decided we needed to do everything we could to get the pool and fix it. Spending that much money just made us sick! The lady had told me the night before that if we wanted it we could have it, but at the time I was just in find a pool, punish and teach Koen that what he did wasn't ok mode so I didn't say one way or another. As they were laying in out to dry and cleaning it, we started to worry that maybe she wasn't going to offer it to us after all. So I whipped up a batch of brownies and headed on over there. Just as we had thought, when I brought it up she was like oh well I haven't even talked to my husband about it. The whole thing was fishy for more than one reason ( I am not going to explain the whole thing), but it all came down to them being dishonest. I came back home and discussed the situation with Tyrell, and we headed back over there together. We had no plans to leave without the pool, and we didn't. We patched it, and it worked, and now we have a giant pool in our backyard.

Kai is absolutely scared to death of it. We tried to show him that he won't sink as long as he wears his tube, and actually we didn't fill it full enough for him to not be able to reach the bottom, but he is still scared to death. He stands on the outside. The little two cried like crazy at first, but soon realized it was great fun! And Koen LOVES it, which worries me that he won't remember that what he did was wrong. We debated even putting it up this year, but we wanted to check the patch, and then when we realized just how much water it took to fill it we had to use it, and I don't really feel like dumping it just yet!
