8 years

Recently Tyrell and I had our 8 year anniversary. Every year I am amazed at how fast time can fly! I really don't feel older than the day I married him, and it doesn't seem that long ago, but somehow 8 years have come and gone. We enjoyed the day, and gave each other gifts we made. Tyrell made me a bottle of "happy pills" since I am always saying I need to take a happy pill. You know for the moments in life when everything just seems to go wrong. Each pill has a happy memory or something sweet he loves about me inside the capsule. He said he bought a bottle of cinnamon pills and dumped out all the cinnamon and replaced it with little pieces of paper. I love them, and I have no idea what they all say, so when I open it it really does bring my mood up! I made him a 52 reasons why I love you book. I used a deck of cards, and put each reason on a card. I had lots of fun making and he seemed to like it (like he would tell me he didn't). Once the kids had gone to bed we ordered Texas Roadhouse to go, and had our own candle light dinner at home. I though it was more fun than actually going to the restaurant! Not to mention cheaper, since we had our own drinks and no fee to pay the babysitter. I look for to the next year with him, and all the rest to come!

Summer Fun!

Our kids had some fun in the sprinkler today. They don't have their pool yet because I am waiting until my little brother and his wife have their baby to head to my parent's and take the pool they had last year. They seemed to have fun anyway! I know that Koen isn't anywhere to be seen in these, but I promise he was there, just never got in the pictures. I do have some videos with him, but they won't upload.

Koen's Last Day of Kindergarten

I realize this video is super duper low quality, but I had to make changes to the file size for it to even attempt to upload on here, and I really wanted my grandparents, and parents to be able to view it. Koen did so great singing and dancing, and I was so glad that I found a way to attend! Thanks to amazing people in my ward who are always willing to help me out! They had an indoor picnic for the parents and kindergarteners. After we ate our lunches they sang the two songs in the videos, then there were some fun activities the kids could do. Koen was very cooperative when I explained to him that since I had left the 2 little ones with someone else he could only do one of the activities so we could leave. He picked the trampoline where he could jump and count by 10s to 100. He has learned so much this year! I can't believe my little man can do so many new things! He scored at or above grade level in everything on his last report card! I am so proud of him. He started the year struggling, and proved that he is a fighter by making so much progress. We sure love him, and hope he continues to do well in his academics in the future.

Our Stinker

So Kai, like most boys, decided he was done being potty trained, and started pooping his pants! Oh and pooping on my floor. We were at our wits ends with the "Kai, if you poop your pants, you are going to have to wear a diaper, like a baby" and the "Kai, if you poop your pants you are going to get spanked" (this was our last resort). I had tried telling him "sorry, you can't play outside with Koen because you'll poop your pants," and many more strategies to get him to just go back to using the toilet, like he had been since December, but nothing, and I mean, NOTHING, made him want to even care that he was pooping everywhere. So, Monday I started telling him that if he could go an entire day without peeing, even the slightest bit (he always leaked in his pants because he was lazy), and not poop his underwear, we could go to ice cream. He kept his pants dry, but by noon we had had yet another pair of poopy underwear. I was so upset! I pretended to cry and told him, "Kai, mommy really wanted ice cream tonight, but now only Koen and daddy get to go because Koen pooped in the toilet today." Oh my, did he come unglued when Koen and daddy left. I thought that had done him in, and that the next day we'd do better. That just didn't happen. I kept up with the "Kai, are you still my big boy so I can take you to ice cream, everyday until Friday, when he finally decided he wanted to do it! So, we take the kid to ice cream, and what does he do on the way home? Pee his pants! I don't know what I am going to do with him! I know he has the ability to control both number 1 and number 2, he just wants to make me crazy! Havyn had better be a breeze to potty train after these boys!

Dinner last night

So, like most kids do, mine whine about what's for dinner unless its pizza or chicken nuggets. Last night was no different. Koen looked at his Chicken Alfredo and immediately started saying, "why do I have to eat this! I don't want this! I don't like it!" To my surprise, and I mean big surprise, Kai tried it! He then said, "this is good!" I thought I was hearing things or something. Then Kai tells Koen in the cutest voice, "Koen if you eat your dinner I will buy you 100 chocolate bars." What a sweetheart! I have no idea where he was going to get the money, but hey it's the thought that counts.

Easter 2012

I know Easter was like 3 weeks ago, but hey it's been a crazy, but good life. The Easter bunny did visit our house, and I think everything he delivered was liked by one kid or another. He his some eggs, and the only one interested in finding them was Koen. His basket was overflowing, and we had to distribute them evenly once he found them all.

As for before Easter morning we did color eggs, with kool-aid! It worked amazingly well. I saw the idea on pinterest, and thought that it would make sense to do since the kids like to drink things they shouldn't. The one I was really worried about, Kael, played with an empty juice bottle the entire time we colored eggs, instead.
