Goin to the Temple

This weekend we have the opportunity to go to the temple with my little brother, Daren, while he gets his endowments! As exciting as this is it makes me sad. I hope I can make it through without crying because I know that this step is bringing him closer to leaving and not being her when my sweet new baby is born! Don't get me wrong I am so glad he has decided to go on a mission and serve the Lord and that he will hopefully touch someone else's life, but I have never sent a brother away for 2 years! I think it makes it harder that 3 months after he leaves there will be a new member of the family. It is also strange to think he is old enough to go! We are growing up so fast and it's scary!!! There is no more kids at home for my mom to have to look after.

On another note, we get to have our ultrasound on September 2 and hopefully the baby will cooperate so we can find out if we are having a boy or a girl. I will post about it.

Daren's Mission Call

My little brother received his mission call yesterday. I still think he is way too little to be getting called on a mission, but he really isn't! He is officially going to the California San Fernando Spanish speaking mission. He is going into the MTC on my mom's birthday, Oct. 29, 2008. That seems like so soon! I am excited for him and at the same time sad. He will not be here for the birth of the newest member of our little family! The baby will be almost 2 when he returns. I will have to send lots of pictures. I don't know if I can go when the take him to the MTC or when he officially leaves because I will be so emotional. I have never had a brother leave for 2 years before so this will be a new experience for me! The funny part of the whole thing is that he actually got the wrong mission call. He got a mission call for another Elder Snyder who lives in Utah so for a minute he thought he was going to the Washington Spokane mission and then he noticed the top had someone elses name on it. When he opened his book though it had the right name and the right mission call. He later got a hold of the other boy and he had also received Daren's call. It was kind of funny and I think Daren was worried for a minute that he wasn't going to know for another couple of weeks where he was going exactly.

Camping

This last week we went camping with some of Tyrell's family and Koen had a blast! He had been saying he wanted to go camping ever since we started talking about it. He didn't even know what it was, but he wanted to go! He and his twin cousin's played for hours in the creek that was nearby for the first two days. Then I wouldn't let him anymore cause he drank the water and it made him sick. He loved being outdoors for four days though. One of the big things we did while we were there was marshmallow roasting. This is because my mother in law said she wouldn't go unless we had lots of marshmallows. We ended up bringing a ton home we brought so many. The kids liked trying to roast their own, more like burn their own. They were fun to watch. We tried to get Koen to eat a smore, but he said he didn't like it without even trying it. Oh well he still had fun with the marshmallows.

Koen and the Sharpie

The other day I was cooking dinner and Koen was really quiet so I came to find out what he was up to. He had gotten a sharpie out of Tyrell's scripture bag and had drawn all over his leg and foot. I was not very happy, but at least he didn't get it on the carpet! He was very good about posing his drawings for me to take a picture though.

The Many Faces of Teeter

The other night Koen brought me the camera and said "picture", so I took some pictures. He is so funny! He just kept doing all these weird faces and then have me take a picture. Then he would ask to "see him". I'd show him and every time he would say "teeter" cause he thinks that is his name for some reason. You have to call him teeter or he won't answer sometimes. I always worry that when he goes to school we're gonna have to tell his teacher to call him teeter instead of Koen. If you ask him if his name is Koen he'll say "NO! It's TEETER!"

Boo-Boos!

Poor Koen got some pretty good boo-boos today at the park. I thought it would be a good idea to take him to the park to play this morning and he did have fun for a while! Then there was a little baseball team getting ready for practice and he wanted to join them so he started running away from me. Well that ended well! I was chasing after him and he was laughing, of course, and then he tripped. Darn it! I picked him up and saw that we needed to go home and clean him up. His nose was bleeding and by the time I got to the car it was all over my shirt. I felt so bad for him! I decided the mall is a better and safer place for him to go play. Here are some pictures of his cleaned up boo-boos.

Finally Some Nice Days

We have finally had some days that are warm enough to get Koen's pool out and let him have all kinds of fun in the sun! He has really enjoyed this! He loves to have the hose on though so he can chase us around the yard and get us wet. He thinks this is so hilarious. He also likes to take a drink every once in a while.
